“Pathway to the light” - Limited Edition Christmas Coffee Tin featuring my illustration, created in collaboration with KALVE Coffee Roasters.

In December 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Kalve Coffee on a special project: designing a unique Christmas coffee tin featuring my illustration.

Beyond the coffee tins, this illustration was also showcased on all winter coffee cups, offering a festive experience to Kalve Coffee visitors. Additionally, the design appeared on other physical elements, such as stickers on paper bags, and was incorporated into Kalve's internal marketing communication materials.

Our goal was to create something warm and cozy - an illustration that would not only capture attention but also remind people of the true spirit of the holidays: sharing, connection, and spending meaningful time with loved ones. The design also needed to be visually appealing, encouraging customers to gift the tin as a thoughtful present during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The illustration, “Pathway to the Light,” tells a heartfelt story. It depicts 12 unique spirits gathered around a table in a peaceful winter forest. Despite the cold and December winds, they are undisturbed, sharing warmth, love, and stories—each moment accompanied by a cup of Kalve Coffee.

As part of this project, I also created a separate animated story that expands on the illustration's theme, exploring its meaning in greater depth. This animation introduces additional characters, such as a lost boy in the forest and little fairies of the light, adding layers to the narrative. You can watch the full animated story here: Pathway to the Light – Animation.

The Symbolism of 12: The number 12 carries deep symbolic meaning, which I intentionally wove into the illustration. It represents the 12 months of the year, the 12 zodiac signs, and the 12 phases of the Moon and Sun. Each character in the illustration has its own unique story and role. You can learn more about them here: Meet the Characters.

The campaign received a big amount of positive feedback on social media. Many Kalve Coffee customers enthusiastically shared photos of the cups and tins, celebrating the festive design and adding to the success of this collaborative project.

Creative Animation for ATU Duty Free x PLŪKT TEA Pop-Up Store at Riga Airport

In November 2024, I had the fantastic opportunity to work with ATU Duty Free on a creative animation project at Riga Airport. The primary goal was to uniquely present ATU’s pop-up store, drawing in travelers with an engaging, storytelling approach to showcase local brands.

Each month, ATU Duty Free highlights local products, offering travelers a curated selection of unique items. For this feature, the spotlight was on PLŪKT tea—a perfect match for crafting a narrative that resonates with viewers. Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, I drew on the whimsical tea party hosted by the Mad Hatter as the central theme for the animation, bringing a sense of wonder and curiosity to the project.

This project allowed me to explore my 2D animation skills while adding a creative storytelling layer to ATU’s brand experience. Click here to see the full animation and dive into Carroll's universe, where there is always warm and delicious tea to warm you up even on the greyest November.

My collaboration with ATU Duty Free Riga on the Kalve Coffee Roasters pop-up at Riga Airport

In September 2024, Riga Airport’s duty-free zone welcomed local brands, offering them a unique opportunity to present their products to travelers. Kalve Coffee Roasters, a prominent Latvian coffee brand, was featured for the month, and I had the privilege to collaborate with both Kalve and Duty Free to bring my creative vision to life.

The concept for this project was developed in a very short timeframe, yet it successfully captured the essence of Kalve Coffee within the bustling airport environment. My goal was to portray the stand as a calming blue oasis amid the rush, where passengers could pause, breathe, and enjoy the aroma of true coffee before continuing their journey.

To illustrate this, I created an animation that transports viewers into a serene world where people dance, birds sing, and flowers bloom, while the airport’s hectic energy fades into the background. The final video resonated deeply with audiences, quickly reaching thousands of views, and both Kalve and Duty Free were highly satisfied with the result.

Līgo essentials

Līgo is the most Latvian holiday of all. The celebration of summer solstice. For a couple of these days, Latvians all over the country are participating in a festival, just like their ancestors did in the past. The holiday is always accompanied by a number of traditions and national cuisine. Here are some special facts:

This is a holiday of unity with nature, when all the people go out of town, weave oak wreaths and collect medicinal herbs. (it is believed that herbs have magical properties only on these two days. after the holidays their properties end)

On the night of June 23-24, it is customary to jump over the fire. it is believed that it relieves people of their burdens and fills them with the power of fire

It is important to wait until dawn and wash your face in the morning dew. (this will provide well-being for the coming year) or have a skinny dipping (which is believed as a spiritual practise)

On Jāņi’s night, beloved ones look for the fern flower and float wreaths on the river

Summer in the city

Imagine the perfect summer day, surrounded by the lively ambiance of your favorite cafes and sun-kissed terraces in Riga, Latvia. My illustrations capture the essence of these cherished spots, evoking the carefree vibe of a summer gathering. This project holds a hint of nostalgia, as some places had to close post-Covid, adding an extra touch of warmth to the memories they conjure.
